DB Engineering supplied AVK valves and provided installation and operation guidance for the process system of the Tan Hiep Water Treatment Plant expansion, adding 100,000 m³/day of capacity.
Project overview
The Tan Hiep Water Treatment Plant expansion is a major clean-water infrastructure project in Binh Duong Province with total investment of more than VND 1,000 billion and BIWASE as the project owner. The project was divided into three main packages: an intake and raw-water pumping station with a capacity of 600,000 m³/day, a D1500 raw-water transmission pipeline with a capacity of 300,000 m³/day, and a treatment plant with a capacity of 100,000 m³/day. Construction started in May 2019 and, after nearly 12 months, all major works were completed in January 2021.
The 100,000 m³/day expansion secured a USD 16 million co-financing facility from ADB and JICA on an unsecured basis without a Government guarantee. The project represented an early financing model for urban infrastructure and social-development investment without a sovereign guarantee, helping open a new channel of international credit for infrastructure, urban development and social services in Vietnam.
Completion of the expansion increased the total water-supply capacity of Tan Hiep Water Treatment Plant in the Binh Duong Industry-Service-Urban Complex to 250,000 m³/day, supporting water demand in Binh Duong New City (Thu Dau Mot City), Ben Cat, Tan Uyen and surrounding areas.
